Blind Melon magic

I've made some of the best of friends thru Blind Melon and
it's music. It's great finding the "bees". There's some people
who don't get my fascination with this band that was deemed a
one-hit wonder from the 90's. It's not only the music which
happens to have touched me & has lyrically always related to me,
but there's something more than just that. The people connected
with it are what does it for me. I never got the chance to see
them with Shannon- I was a little younger to go to most of the
clubs when they played around me & the one time that I was
supposed to go my friend & I got in a dumb teenage fight
(totally insignifcant now but at the time it was probably a
big deal) and she gave my ticket away to her brother who wasn't
even really into their music at all. And then Shannon died
shortly after that. I was so angry at her for a long time.
We even stopped talking until recently when we reconnected
realizing that it was a dumb fight & time was too short to be
mad over something stupid. I was supposed to go see Melon in
'07 when they started touring with Travis but I was super sick
& couldn't go to that show -my friend who I gave my ticket to
got a cd signed for me though which was rad, it's on a
special shelf. While they were doing their '08 tour I was busy
following another band and thought I had nothing to worry that
they'd be around for a while to be able to see them- and then
they broke up again. Again, I felt like I missed out on something.
Then when they were announcing shows that they were playing again
I was so excited when they said they were playing in NY in 2011.
I needed to go...and I did & it was the most amazing show that I
have ever been to. And that's my story....
There's just something magical about it.
